{"id":4789,"date":"2025-06-09T18:10:38","date_gmt":"2025-06-09T17:10:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thorex.site\/?post_type=news&#038;p=4789"},"modified":"2025-06-04T18:12:45","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T17:12:45","slug":"4789","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/thorex.site\/en\/news\/4789\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft offers Europe free protection against cyberattacks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Microsoft has offered European governments a free cybersecurity program launched on Wednesday to strengthen their defenses against cyber threats, including those enhanced by artificial intelligence, according to a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a surge in cyberattacks in Europe\u2014many linked to state actors from China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia\u2014the program aims to boost AI-based threat intelligence sharing and help prevent and disrupt attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf we can bring more of what we developed in the United States to Europe, it will strengthen cybersecurity for a greater number of European institutions,\u201d said Microsoft President Brad Smith in an interview with Reuters.<br>\u201cYou will see other initiatives from us later this month.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malicious actors are increasingly using generative AI to scale and amplify their operations\u2014from disrupting critical infrastructure to spreading disinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While attackers have turned AI into a weapon, Smith noted that AI also offers defensive tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe do not believe that artificial intelligence can evade our ability to detect its use or threats generally,\u201d Smith said.<br>\u201cOur goal is to develop AI as a defensive tool faster than as an offensive weapon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Microsoft monitors any malicious use of its AI models and prevents the use of its AI products by known cybercriminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the AI-generated deepfakes are images of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky supposedly surrendering to Russian demands in 2022, as well as a fabricated 2023 audio recording that influenced Slovak elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Smith noted that audio has been easier to fake than video so far.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":4790,"template":"","class_list":["post-4789","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/thorex.site\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/4789","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/thorex.site\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/thorex.site\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/thorex.site\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/4790"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/thorex.site\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4789"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
